This program is designed to maximize latest technology and hands on practical flying with innovative interactive online learning systems that combine to deliver you the best outcomes. The program is focused on job outcomes where drone usage will rapidly expand over the next decade with the need for dedicated quality commercial drone pilots or skills to enhance job performance and career pathways.
You will learn to apply non-technical and technical knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy and judgement and will take limited responsibility in known and stable operational contexts within established regulatory parameters.
Training Support
- Our trainer will provide direct training and assessment support.
- AGI administration team will provide program support including enrolment and systems assistance.
- Your school will continue to provide comprehensive student support including counseling.
- AGI conducts all marketing and enrolments.
- Third party arrangements use all AGI learning and assessment resources facilitated by their fully qualified trainers under strict quality and compliance framework to provide students the same high level of education standards across Queensland.
Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However AGI will ask students to complete an Language, Literacy Numeracy and Digital (LLND) questionnaire before commencement to assist our staff to propose reasonable adjustments if required to the training delivery taking into account the learner’s LLND
Industry Skills Solutions (ISS) Funding NOW Available
The Industry Skills Solutions (ISS) program is an initiative under The Right Skills 2025-28, which is driving industry-led solutions to the critical skills needs for rapidly emerging industries and securing a pipeline of skills for Queensland’s economy.
The objective of the Aviation UAV ISS is to help address workforce issues related to skills and training in aviation (drone operator) within regional and remote communities and will support related skilling needs in areas including agriculture, mining and fire protection.
The education to employment focus area will provide job seekers, existing workers and secondary school students in Years 11 and 12 with:
- opportunities to gain the Certificate III in Aviation (Remote Pilot);
- a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) remote pilot licence (RePL);
- connections to local employers ensuring participants gain skills tailored to the needs of local industries;
- employment in high-demand sectors such as agriculture, mining, and fire protection
ISS Eligibility Criteria
The Aviation UAV ISS will target eligible students 15 years of age and over who are:
- School students in years 11 or 12 enrolled at a school in an approved delivery location or
- job seekers or existing workers who permanently reside in an approved delivery location
Approved delivery locations:
- Central Queensland
- Darling Downs and Southwest
- Far North Queensland
- North Queensland
- Wide Bay Burnett
Individuals who are NOT eligible include:
❌ school students who have already completed a DTET- funded qualification or apprentices and trainees
❌ post-school participants who hold a certificate III or above qualification completed in the last 10 years
