INTERNATIONAL STUDENTs
Australian Global Institute (AGI) is committed to providing high-quality education and training services in a safe, supportive, and compliant learning environment.
Genuine Student requirements
All applicants must satisfy the Genuine Student (GS) requirement in accordance with the requirements and guidelines of the Department of Home Affairs.
AGI reserves the right to request additional documentation and/or conduct a further assessment interview to assess an applicant’s suitability for enrolment and Genuine Student status.
AGI may refuse enrolment or decline to issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) where an applicant does not meet enrolment requirements, Genuine Student requirements, or other obligations under the ESOS Act 2000 and the National Code 2018.

Entry requirements
English language proficiency: Minimum IELTS overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent), with no individual band score lower than 5.5, unless otherwise specified.
Minimum age requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to course commencement.
Genuine Student requirement: Applicants must satisfy the Genuine Student (GS) requirement in accordance with Department of Home Affairs requirements.
Academic entry requirements: Successful completion of Year 12 or an equivalent qualification. Non-school leavers may demonstrate relevant work experience and/or prior qualifications, indicating a reasonable likelihood of successful course completion.
Digital literacy and technology requirements: Sufficient computer skills and access to a personal computer or laptop with internet access, webcam, microphone, and Microsoft Office capability or equivalent software.
Physical and practical requirements: Physical capacity to undertake practical training and/or work placement activities where applicable.
Pre-requisite conditions: Package/ program prerequisite requirements (if applicable).
NOTE: You will be required to provide evidence that you meet the English language and academic entry requirements for your selected program, as outlined in the table above.
This evidence must be provided before AGI can confirm your enrolment.
ESOS Framework
Australian Global Institute (AGI) operates in accordance with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 (National Code 2018).
The ESOS framework establishes nationally consistent standards to protect the rights of international students studying in Australia on a student visa and to ensure the delivery of quality education and training services.
Change of Address
In accordance with the ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018, international students must notify AGI of any change to their residential address, phone number, email address, or emergency contact details within seven (7) days of the change occurring.
Students are responsible for ensuring that their contact details remain current and accurate at all times during their enrolment.
You must also let the Department of Home Affairs know of any change of address.
Course Commencement
Students are required to commence their course on the agreed commencement date as outlined in the Letter of Offer and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
If a student is unable to commence the course as scheduled, they must notify AGI in writing as soon as possible prior to the commencement date. Failure to commence the course without approved notification or a valid reason may result in cancellation of the student’s enrolment, cancellation of the CoE, and reporting through PRISMS where required under the ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018.
Requests for deferral, suspension, cancellation, or non-commencement of studies will be assessed in accordance with AGI’s Deferral, Suspension and Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy.
Training Facilities
AGI provides safe, accessible, and suitable training facilities, resources, and equipment to support student learning and assessment. Facilities may include:
- Classrooms and practical training areas;
- Internet access;
- Learning resources
- Simulated workplace environments where applicable.
Students are expected to use all facilities and equipment responsibly and comply with AGI policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and student code of conduct expectations.
Course Delivery Schedule
AGI delivers the course by scheduling 20 contact hours per week. Training may include a combination of face-to-face classes, supervised learning, practical activities, structured study, supported learning activities, and other trainer-directed activities, as applicable to the course.
The weekly training schedule may include activities such as:
- 7 hours of classroom-based learning;
- 7 hours of practical and foundation skills activities; and
- 6 hours of online-supported study and supervised learning activities.
Please note that the delivery schedule, contact hours, and breakdown of learning activities may vary depending on the course requirements, timetable arrangements, operational needs, and educational considerations.
Course Progress, Attendance and Completion Requirements
AGI monitors student course progress, attendance and study load to support successful course completion within the duration specified in the student’s Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
International students are expected to attend scheduled classes and actively participate in all training, assessment, supervised learning, practical activities, and support sessions.
To successfully complete the course and achieve the qualification, students are required to:
- attend and participate in scheduled learning activities;
- submit assessments by the required due dates; and
- demonstrate satisfactory course progress throughout each study period.
Satisfactory course progress is generally achieved when a student attains competency in at least 50% of the units scheduled within a study period.
AGI monitors student attendance, engagement, and academic progress throughout the course. Students identified as being at risk of unsatisfactory course progress or disengagement may be required to participate in intervention strategies, support services, counselling sessions, or academic support meetings.
Where required, AGI may issue warning letters and intervention notices outlining the student’s current academic situation, required improvement actions, and potential implications for their enrolment and student visa status under the ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018.
Students who successfully complete all required units of competency will be issued with a nationally recognised qualification.
Students who do not successfully complete all units but have achieved competency in one or more units will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the units successfully completed.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital (LLND)
AGI conducts a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills assessment to identify whether students possess the skills required to successfully participate in their selected course and meet course requirements.
Students are encouraged to disclose any learning difficulties, disabilities, or additional support needs so that AGI can provide appropriate support and assistance throughout the duration of the course.
Student Welfare and Support Services
AGI is committed to supporting the welfare, wellbeing, and successful participation of all students throughout their enrolment.
Students have access to a range of support services, including:
- academic and learning support;
- trainer and assessor consultations;
- language, literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) support;
- wellbeing and counselling referral services;
- learning resources and study support; and
- information and referrals to external support services where required.
Complaints and Appeals
AGI provides students with access to fair, transparent, and accessible complaints and appeals processes.
Students are encouraged, where appropriate, to first discuss any concerns with their trainer, assessor, or a member of the administration team. If the matter cannot be resolved informally, students may submit a formal complaint or appeal using the Complaints and Appeals Form (CAF), available from the administration.
AGI will:
- handle complaints and appeals in a timely, confidential, impartial, and professional manner;
- ensure procedural fairness and natural justice throughout the process;
- provide students with written information regarding the outcome of the complaint or appeal; and
- provide access to an independent external review process where applicable.
Access to AGI’s complaints and appeals processes does not remove the student’s right to pursue other legal remedies under Australian Consumer Law or other relevant legislation where applicable.
Fees and Payment Information
Students are required to pay tuition and non-tuition fees in accordance with the agreed payment schedule and the terms outlined in the Letter of Offer and Written Agreement.
In accordance with the ESOS Act 2000, AGI will not require students to pay more than 50% of the total tuition fees for the course prior to commencement unless:
- the course duration is less than 25 weeks; or
- the student voluntarily chooses to pay more than 50% in advance.
All fees must be paid in Australian Dollars (AUD).
Failure to pay fees by the due date may result in:
- overdue payment notices;
- intervention regarding outstanding fees;
- restrictions on enrolment progression or access to additional services where appropriate;
- suspension or cancellation of enrolment in accordance with AGI policies and procedures; and/or
- reporting through PRISMS where required under the ESOS Act 2000 and National Code 2018.
Additional fees may apply for reassessment, replacement certificates, work placement requirements, learning materials, administrative services, or other applicable services. Please refer to “other fees”.
The fees outlined in the Letter of Offer and Written Agreement are current at the time the offer is issued. However, fees may be reviewed periodically and may change where permitted under the Letter of Offer and Written Agreement, AGI policies, and applicable legislation. Students will be notified of any applicable fee changes in advance where required.
Refunds are managed in accordance with AGI’s Refund Policy and applicable ESOS legislation.
Refund Policy
Students should refer to AGI Refund Policy for full details regarding refund eligibility, applicable fees, and refund conditions.
Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@agi.edu.au and supported by relevant documentation where applicable.
Approved refunds are processed within 4 weeks of receiving the completed refund application and supporting evidence.
In the event of provider default, AGI will meet its obligations under the ESOS Act 2000 and Tuition Protection Service (TPS) framework.
Nothing in the policies removes or limits the student’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law, the ESOS Act 2000, or other applicable legislation.

Additional Information- Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@agi.edu.au.
- Supporting documentation may be required for the assessment of the refund application.
- Approved refunds will generally be processed within 4 weeks.
- Application fees are non- refundable.
- Refunds will be paid in Australian Dollars (AUD) to the original payer unless otherwise authorised in writing.
- Any applicable non-tuition fees or third-party charges already incurred by AGI may also be deducted.
Nothing in this policy removes or limits the student’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.
Tuition Protection Service (TPS)
In the event that AGI is unable to deliver the course as agreed, students will be supported in accordance with the ESOS Act 2000 and the Tuition Protection Service (TPS) framework. The Tuition Protection Service (TPS) is an initiative of the Australian Government to assist international students if their education provider is unable to fully deliver their course of study. The TPS ensures international students can either complete their studies with another provider or receive a refund of unspent tuition fees.
Where provider default occurs, AGI will:
- Notify affected students in writing within 14 days
- Offer students an alternative course at no additional cost where possible; or
- Provide a refund of unspent tuition fees as required by legislation.
Students may also be assisted through the Tuition Protection Service (TPS) if AGI is unable to meet its obligations. Further information about the TPS is available at: https://www.tps.gov.au
Student Rights and Responsibilities
AGI is committed to providing students with a safe, supportive, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment.
Students have the right to:
- receive accurate and current information about their course, fees, policies, procedures, and support services;
- be treated fairly, respectfully, and without discrimination, harassment, or bullying;
- access training, assessment, learning resources, and student support services;
- receive reasonable adjustments and support where appropriate;
- access complaints and appeals processes in accordance with AGI policies;
- have their personal information managed confidentially and in accordance with privacy legislation; and
- study in a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Students are responsible for:
- complying with AGI policies, procedures, and the Student Code of Conduct;
- attending scheduled classes and participating in training, learning, and assessment activities;
- maintaining satisfactory course progress and meeting assessment requirements;
- treating staff, students, and others with respect and professionalism;
- using AGI facilities, equipment, and resources responsibly;
- maintaining current contact and residential address details with AGI;
- complying with student visa conditions and Australian laws; and
- paying all tuition fees and other applicable charges by the required due dates.
Transferring from Another Provider
International students transferring from another registered provider must comply with the transfer requirements under the National Code 2018 and AGI’s policies and procedures.
Students who have not completed six (6) months of their principal course with another registered provider may be required to provide a valid Letter of Release before AGI can issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), where applicable under the National Code 2018.
AGI will assess transfer requests in accordance with:
- the student’s best interests;
- academic progress and support needs;
- student visa requirements; and
- compassionate or compelling circumstances, where applicable.
Students may be required to provide supporting documentation as part of the transfer assessment process.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/ Credit Transfer
AGI recognises that students may have previously completed relevant training, qualifications, work experience, or industry skills that may contribute towards their current course.
Students may apply for:
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): assessment of skills and knowledge gained through previous study, work experience, or life experience; or
- Credit Transfer (CT): recognition of nationally recognised units or qualifications previously completed with another registered training organisation.
Applications for RPL or Credit Transfer should be submitted with appropriate supporting documentation before the course commencement period.
Granting of RPL or Credit Transfer may reduce the duration of the course and may affect the student’s Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), course fees, and student visa arrangements where applicable.
AGI will assess all applications in accordance with its Recognition Policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
Student Privacy
AGI is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of student personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
AGI collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information for purposes related to:
- student enrolment and administration;
- training, assessment, and academic support;
- student welfare and support services;
- compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements; and
- reporting obligations under the ESOS Act 2000 and other applicable legislation.
AGI will:
- collect only information reasonably necessary for its functions and activities;
- take reasonable steps to ensure personal information is accurate, complete, and up to date;
- securely store personal information and protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure;
- provide students with access to their personal information upon request, subject to legislative requirements; and
- only use or disclose personal information for authorised purposes or where required by law.
Students may be required to provide personal and sensitive information, including identification documents, academic records, health information, visa information, or other relevant documentation where necessary for enrolment, student support, or regulatory compliance purposes.
As a registered provider of education services to overseas students, AGI may be required to disclose personal information, enrolment details, academic progress, attendance, and student visa information to Australian Government agencies, designated authorities, and the Tuition Protection Service (TPS), where authorised or required under the ESOS Act 2000 or other applicable legislation.

Privacy Notice
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), AGI collects personal information for the purpose of processing and managing student enrolment in vocational education and training (VET) courses, delivering training and assessment services, and meeting its obligations under relevant legislation.
Under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth) (NVETR Act), AGI is required to disclose personal information collected about students to the National VET Data Collection administered by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER).
NCVER is responsible for collecting, managing, analysing, and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.
AGI may also disclose personal information to relevant Commonwealth, State or Territory government agencies, regulators, and authorised bodies where required or authorised by law.

Overseas Health Cover (OSHC)
OSHC is compulsory and must always be current for both the student and any accompanying family members while they are in Australia in accordance with their visa conditions.
Students are responsible for renewing their healthcare cover and must provide a copy of a policy renewal to AGI at least 7 days prior to the expiration date of any policy.
